Pokemon Go Tips

Here are some Pokemon Go Tips, so that you don’t have to make the same mistakes that so many others have. When players first start playing Pokemon Go, they are generally not familiar with IV, and want to power up the higher CP Pokemon immediately. To truly master the game of Pokemon Go, you need to understand that 80% of the pokemon that you catch should not be used to fight in gyms. These low IV pokemon, should be traded in to the professor for candy. Use the candy to feed other Pokemon that you will catch at higher levels if they have a higher IV percentage.

What is IV in Pokemon Go?

IV stands for Individual Values which are hidden stats for each pokemon in the game. Each individual Pokemon has its own set of hidden values that affect its potential for Attack, Defense, and Stamina. Essentially IV makes it so that each and every Pokemon is different, even when they are of the same species. These hidden numbers add to the base stats for the Pokemon type. This means that a Snorlax with high IV numbers will be better than a Snorlax with low IV numbers after it is fully powered up. The IV of a Pokemon does not get randomized when it is evolved, but the move sets do.

What are Pokémon move sets?

Move sets are the 2 moves that are assigned to each pokemon. Before taking your Pokemon into battle, it’s vital every Pokemon Go player has a firm understanding of each species’ move set, knowing which attacks are more powerful than others.

When determining what makes a good move, there are a few factors to take into consideration, namely how much power the move has, how long it takes to perform, and for how much time it does damage to the enemy Pokemon.

In terms of overall best quick moves in the game, regardless of Pokemon, here are the top 10, with #1 being the move that deals the most possible damage per second.

  1. Pound
  2. Metal Claw
  3. Psycho Cut
  4. Bite
  5. Dragon Breath
  6. Wing Attack
  7. Scratch
  8. Water Gun
  9. Fire Fang
  10. Shadow Claw

Pokemon Go Tips – How to level up faster in Pokémon Go

The fastest way to level up in Pokemon Go is to use a Lucky Egg. Before using a lucky egg, make sure that you can play for 30 minutes without interuption. The lucky egg will double all experience points earned for 30 minutes. Evolve as many Pokemon as you can during the 30 minutes that your lucky egg is active. You will earn 1,000 XP for each pokemon that you evolve. Pidgeys, Weedles and Caterpies are the easiest to evolve, because they only require 12 candy each. If you can, time your regular Eggs to crack at the same time you’re using a Lucky Egg for bonus XP points.

Pokemon Go Tips – Powering up Pokémon

Do not power up your Pokemon until you at least reach trainer Level 20. That’s the point when it starts getting much harder to level up your trainer. (You need 25,000 XP to go from level 19 to 20, but 50,000 XP to get to level 21 and 75,000 XP for level 22.) Be sure to check the IV’s and move sets on your Pokemon before powering them up.
